What the rule requires

Whenever you announce a price reduction, the discount must be measured against the lowest price you charged for that product in the 30 days before the reduction. That prior low is the reference figure — not the price shown the day before the sale. It stops a brief price rise being used to make a later “discount” look bigger than it is.
