Yes. The 30-day price rule applies in Cyprus, as it does across the European Union. It comes from the Omnibus Directive, Directive (EU) 2019/2161, whose rules have applied since 28 May 2022. Because it is a Directive, it is transposed into Cypriot law, and it is supervised locally rather than by an EU body reaching directly into your shop.

What the rule requires

Whenever you announce a price reduction, you must also show the lowest price you charged for that product in the 30 days before the reduction. The discount is measured against that prior low, so a “was” price reflects what customers could genuinely have paid recently rather than a figure chosen to make the saving look larger.

• Keep a price history so you can find the lowest price in the previous 30 days.
• Show that prior low as the reference whenever you advertise a reduction.
• Present the price information clearly in Greek for your Cypriot customers, even though English is widely used.
