What the rule requires

When you announce a price reduction, the reference or “before” price must be the lowest price you applied to that product in the 30 days before the discount. The point is to stop inflated reference prices that exaggerate the size of a saving. ČOI supervises how businesses present offers to consumers and can act where a price-reduction claim is found to mislead.

What sellers should do

• Set every “before” price as the lowest price applied in the prior 30 days.
• Keep a price-history log so a claim can be justified if questioned.
• Present price and reduction details clearly, in Czech.
